The Rising Cry for Prayer

The Rising Cry for Prayer

Author - Jonathan Graf

As we near election day 2012, there is a rising cry that the only hope for America is prayer. It’s about time! We have put our hope in candidates, supreme court nominations, and legislations, but none of it has brought America back morally. My hope is that believers and the church will finally get desperate enough that they begin doing what would have worked in the first place: pray.

That’s what 40 Days of Prayer for the Elections is all about. We want to encourage prayer in every way and form possible--40 days prior to the election, First Friday prayer, First Thursday prayer, community prayer groups—we don’t care how it is happening. We just want to see the church pray. Every believer, every church, lay aside time and PRAY for our nation and the elections.

Repent for our sins. Cry out to God that He would stay His hand of judgment on our sinful nation, and bless us again. Pray that a standard of righteousness be raised again across this land. Pray for revival—a fresh outpouring of His Spirit on the church, and then a spiritual awakening.
Stop thinking there is another solution to our problems, if just this guy or that guy could get elected, if only we could get this bill passed. Those things are fine; we need to vote our conscience as believers. But these things are not what we need to put our hope in right now. Instead, PRAY! Cry out to God to intervene and bring about His solution.

We hope you will join this effort, and do everything you can to raise awareness in believers around you of the need to pray. Sign up to receive this blog; come back to this site regularly to see new ideas and ways you can pray and encourage others to pray as well.

I have been praying with Billye Brim for An Awakening to God for 3 years now. I am nnow in prayer and fasting for the nation and the people. I encounter so much hatred and wickedness that I cry sometimes a lot. But we were called to operate as intercessors as was Abraham, Moses, and the prophets. We are standing in the gap that America will again return to God and repent which simply means - change your mind. Pray for us. I have been attacked for being a Christian. It is persecution. They try to make you afraid.

I have long believed our focus needs to move away from "God Bless America" to the more honoring focus of AMERICA.............BLESS GOD!! He will always hear our words that Bless HIM and Honor HIM.

Dear Brother in Christ, As a member of the Universal Church; the body of Christ, I am with you for America's transformation. In the past, you have received more from the hands of God more than any nation I know of. I can understand the present condition from your right up. No one other than your own countrymen can pray for the situation that is prevailing right now. But prayer alone is not the answer, and my humble opinion is that the declared 40 days of prayer may become a futile exercise in the end. You may think I am sounding negative. Not so, but I want you to ponder about some warnings from Jeremiah. I quote: 1. "so do not pray for this people, nor offer any plea, or petition for them; do not please with me, for I will not listen to you"- Jer.7:16, 2. "Do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them, because I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their distress. 3. " Then the Lord said to me, "do not pray for the well-being of this people. Although they fast, I will not listen to their cry, though they offer burnt offering, and grain offerings, I will not accept them....Jer. 11:14 America is full of false Minsters, so called Prophets who are false, worst is false believers. The hour of the need is REPENTANCE. I don't know how you will achieve this. Even one minute prayer with contrite and repentant hear will bear fruit and bring in the needed change. These are my humble views. Be Blessed Rev.J. Bavani Rajan

Thank you for leading out in this pray effort. The real issues about the up coming election are not the real issues. Many issues draw people's attention from the foundational issues such as Bible centered morality. Praying for the church universal and Christians to come alive from general lukewarmness is our need and God is the One who specializes in reviving hearts. We must repent and seek the favor of our Lord.

I praying brother and I felt led to add a prayer request for these 40 days: that people across this nation would be freed from the hardship of "Playing God". What a wearying and terrible burden it is to themselves, to families, the church, the government, and the unborn. We also will commit to these 40 days. and I will approach my church about this, too.

I am in complete agreement with what your ministry is doing and saying. Yes, we need to be in prayer for our elections and our country.
