Dear Friends, I recently received a note from a pastor saying, “I long for a church that understands the privilege and power we have in prayer, for a people who so love to pray that prayer is a priority more than a duty, for a place where we have complete dependency on God’s leading”. Then he added, “I would also own up to my own need and desire to grow, as I recognize how difficult it is for people to grow beyond their leader”. I long for that kind of church, too, don’t you? And I am excited to see it happening as more and more churches take part in the 40 Days of Prayer initiative. 40 Days of Prayer is a prayer mobilization initiative that will move your congregation and its leaders toward the goal of being a prayer-filled church—a virtual “house of prayer”. It works in churches of any size, wherever they are located and whatever their affiliation, so long as they believe in biblical prayer. In the “40-Days” strategy, leaders are the first to be engaged. Using the book Love to Pray staff members, elders, deacons and board members first deepen their own prayer lives, then set the pace for the whole congregation. After that, whole congregations, with members using the Love to Pray book in personal or family devotions, inspired by weekend messages on prayer and invigorated by thinking and praying together in small groups, find their prayer lives recharged. Beyond the “40 Days” your church will be primed to benefit afresh from corporate prayer and launch new prayer ministries like:
The great prayer warrior, E. M. Bounds, wrote, “There can be no substitute, no rival for prayer. It stands alone as the great spiritual force and this force must be imminent and acting”. I think he was right, don’t you? In fact, history declares that prayer is the underpinning for revival. Think of what a difference it will make in America as tens of thousands of churches begin to engage in powerful prayer ministries that build their churches and impact their communities for Christ. Praying churches are healthy churches; healthy churches make a difference wherever they are. The 40 Days of Prayer concept is unmistakably biblical. The strategy is simple and doable. The tools are proven. Something will happen in your church as you grow strong in prayer, something that wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t. It’s what God promises (James 5:16). Joyfully and prayerfully yours, P.S. – I invite you to check our website for these free and downloadable materials:
